The partner

Automatisation JRT Inc. designs and manufactures industrial automated systems. The company operates in several sectors, including wood processing, refrigeration, agrifood, and medical applications.

For several years, Novika has partnered with Automatisation JRT on the mechanical design and automation of certain large scale projects.

The context

During the COVID 19 pandemic, Automatisation JRT worked on an automated cell for assembling sample carrier tips used in medical testing and diagnostic equipment. This equipment is designed for PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) molecular diagnostics and the screening of certain diseases, including COVID 19.

The solution

Automatisation JRT brought Novika into the project to develop the mechanical portion of the automated cell.

The project involved developing an automated tip assembly cell capable of feeding, press fit assembly, and tip removal, all within a four second cycle time and with a rejection rate below 1.5%. Final inspection is carried out using an onboard camera that captures a backlit image of the press fit.

To everyone’s great satisfaction, the equipment developed by Novika and Automatisation JRT fully met the specifications and proved highly effective. Automatisation JRT was then able to implement it at its client’s facilities.
